Argentatin Content in Guayule Leaves (Parthenium argentatum A. Gray)

چکیده

Approximately one-third of the waste biomass from cultivation guayule (Parthenium argentatum A. Gray) for natural rubber production is leaf tissue; however, whether it can be valorized not known. Guayulins and argentatins are potential high-value products that recovered resin during rubber/latex processing. Argentatins highly abundant in stem resin; unlike guayulins, their occurrence leaves has been investigated. The present study determined content isoargentatins A B a pure accession (R1040) two hybrids (CAL-1 AZ-2) under conditions irrigation non-irrigation. was ~10%, which provides suitable starting point economic exploitation. highest occurred plants irrigation, with yields 4.2 3.6 kg ha−1 R1040 AZ-2, respectively. had percentage greatest total argentatin (24.5 g kg−1 dried leaf), principally due to abundance Contrastingly, CAL-1 consistently showed lowest based on weight (0.6 ha−1). substantial suggests future

Biochemical regulation of rubber biosynthesis in guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray)

Natural rubber is an irreplaceable raw material vital to industry, transportation, medicine and defense. It is largely produced from clonal plantations of Hevea brasiliensis in southeastern Asia. Temperate-zone rubber-producing crops are greatly desired to increase biodiversity, protect supplies, and provide a safe natural-rubber alternative for the large numbers of people suffering from Type I...

A century of guayule: Comprehensive Genetic Characterization of the Guayule (Parthenium argentatum A. Gray) USDA Germplasm Collection

The fragility of a single-source, geographically concentrated supply of natural rubber, a critical material of the modern economy, has brought guayule ( Parthenium argentatum A. Gray) to the forefront as an alternative source of natural rubber. The improvement of guayule for commercial-scale production has been limited by the lack of genomic tools and well-characterized genetic resources requ...

Vekcha-thielo, Irina Germination of Guayule (parthenium Argentatum Gray) Pollen on an Artificial Medium

The pollen of five diploid and two tetraploid guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray) plants was cultured on nutrient media. It was observed that guayule pollen is released as tetrads of spores which will not ger minate on the media unless they are separated into individual pollen grains. For each plant, the results of the germination tests varied with the day and the time of day of the pollen co...

Impairment of Photorespiratory Carbon Flow into Rubber by the Inhibition of the Glycolate Pathway in Guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray).

Cut shoots of guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray) were treated with four inhibitors of the glycolate pathway (alpha-hydroxypyridinemethanesulfonic acid; isonicotinic acid hydrazide, glycine hydroxamate, and amino-oxyacetate, AOA) in order to evaluate the role of photorespiratory intermediates in providing precursors for the biosynthesis of rubber. Photorespiratory CO(2) evolution in guayule le...

Effect of 2-(3,4-Dichlorophenoxy)-triethylamine on the Synthensis of cis-Polyisoprene in Guayule Plants (Parthenium argentatum Gray).

The application of 2-(3,4-dichlorophenoxy)-triethylamine to guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray var 593) plants results in a 2-fold stimulation of rubber synthesis and a 1.5- to 3-fold increase in mevalonic acid kinase, isopentenyl pyrophosphate isomerase, and rubber transferase. The increase in these enzymic activities accounts in part for the chemical induction of rubber synthesis.
